As part of a community-wide effort to prevent substance abuse, Kadungalloor Grama Panchayat organised an anti-drug awareness rally titled “Operation Toofan – The Narco Hunt.” The event was held at 10:00 AM on 7 July 2026, with students from various schools, teachers, elected representatives, officials and social workers taking part. The rally aimed to raise public awareness about the harmful effects of drug use and, in particular, to protect the younger generation from substance abuse.

The Kerala Police initiative “Operation Toofan – The Narco Hunt” aims to take strong legal action against drug networks and build a broad-based response to substance abuse with public participation. Implemented in collaboration with departments such as Education, Health and Excise, the initiative places emphasis on preventing the spread of drugs and raising awareness, particularly about the use of synthetic drugs.

“Say No to Drugs, Protect Our Younger Generation.” The students’ rally carried this message to the community, and their active participation was a key feature of the event. Such programmes help encourage young people to take part in anti-drug initiatives and spread awareness from schools into the wider community.

The programme was jointly organised by Kadungalloor Grama Panchayat, the District Legal Services Authority, Ernakulam (DLSA), and the Taluk Legal Services Committee, Aluva (TLSC). Along with legal awareness, the event aimed to promote a sense of social responsibility in addressing substance abuse.

Through Operation Toofan, Kadungalloor Grama Panchayat highlighted the importance of strengthening community participation in building a drug-free society, protecting children and young people from substance abuse, and fostering a vigilant community.
